R3 Homes completed a very custom deck add-on. The original deck is about 20 years old. The client wanted us to replace specific boards, increase the size of his back deck (overlooks the Deschutes River - 200' feet below), and add some custom front benches. In addition to building out over the cliff, the specific material is called Ipe (pronounced epay). It is an incredibly hard wood that comes from Brazil and grows in tropical South to Central America. Recognized as the most durable and hardest species of timber and is the most preferred wood for deck building. The wood color varies from olive brown to blackish hue and has an oily appearance.
